What I Offer: Types of Therapy & Specialties
My Treatment Approach
Therapy for individuals, couples and families.
I believe that therapy works to reduce emotional distress and increase overall self-esteem and life satisfaction by providing an opportunity for expanded self-understanding and curiosity in the context of a trusting relationship. I am an open, active listener and I work in an empathic, collaborative way to help you identify and confidently break out of patterns that impede happiness and growth.
Together, we would establish goals to enable you to make the changes you are seeking. I facilitate a safe therapeutic space to encourage you to openly explore your experiences and emotions, gain comfort in being vulnerable, and celebrate your progress and accomplishments. Making sure that you feel understood, checking in about your experience of the therapy, and using our relationship to help understand your interpersonal experiences are important elements of the process.
I practice psychotherapy from an interpersonal perspective and incorporate cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness strategies when appropriate. I use these various approaches to tailor the treatment to the specific needs of each individual or couple. As a therapist, my goal is to help you understand, through mutual exploration, what--both in the here and now and in past experiences--contributes to unhappiness and to work with you to find immediate and long-lasting solutions. In times of crisis and/or when appropriate, I can take a more active role, focusing on specific strategies for stress reduction and skills development.
